You've Been Alerted!

Hello fellow beauties! I am always searching for new or improved ways of arranging and storing my makeup. My collection is currently sitting in the living room of our small duplex. We are house hunting and I will be so glad to be able to move everything into our bedroom.

I recently went onto The Container Store's website and discovered one of their storage drawers was on sale. I wanted to share with y'all in case anybody else is looking for something similar. Their 3-drawer box orginally sells for 12.99. It is currently on sale for 8.99. The 3-drawer box is small measuring 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches, is constructed of translucent plastic, and has chrome-plated drawer pulls. The item is backordered on the website, but I called my local store and they still had some in stock.

I am using the 3-drawer box to hold my pigments, cotton balls, most used eyeshadow palettes and other frequently used beauty items.

The Hi Life

Hello to all my readers! I know, it's been months since I've written a blog post. I've been enjoying my family, friends and summer!

Kasey from Still Glamorus Cosmetics recently held a giveaway on Twitter. I believe she picked 3 winners. I was one of the winners and was so excited! I love her products. She has her own makeup line and sells a variety of items such as pigments, blushes, lipsticks, lipglosses, foundation. I won a new product called The HiLife highlighter.

Description from her website:

This highlighter is going to be your new best friend!
Its sheer frosty finish gives your cheekbones, brow bone or any area you want highlighted the perfect glow!
Great for all skintones and a little goes a long way!

This product is extremely pigmented and smooth. Mine came packaged in a bubble mailer and had a sticker over the sifter to prevent any fall out. I believe this highlighter has 5 grams of product just as the Make me Glow blushes. Below are pictures of the product and also swatches on the back of my hand. The HiLife retails for $10. You can use the code STILLGLAM to receive 10% off your order.

Swatch in natural light.

Thanks to Kasey for showing her followers love! What highlighters do you like to use? Have you tried The HiLife yet?

Chief

I know, I know. It's been way too long since my last blog post. What can I say? Life's been busy! Between work, kids, fiance, house hunting, and weekend activities with friends when can I find time for blog posting? I can keep up with Twitter and Facebook on my phone, but actually sitting down at the computer is tough for me.

Almost two months ago I went to my first tattoo session for my latest and greatest tattoo. It took a total of two sessions and seven hours. I have 3 other tattoos, but not near this size. I had decided several years back that I wanted to get a tattoo in honor of my grandpa, Chief. I told him I what I planned on doing and he was against it. He is still alive and has been doing dialysis for a few years now. We are not Native American, but my grandpa has always been called Chief. He owns his own paint and body shop, called Chief's Paint & Body, and he has beautiful Indian paintings and statues in his office.

My original idea for this tattoo was 2 small feathers on my upper left back next to the butterflies I have for my kids. As the years went on my idea changed.  I went online and looked for pictures of Indian head dresses. I knew this was the one when I saw it.

I then checked out some local tattoo artists and their portfolios. I picked a guy who did amazing portraits because if someone can ink a picture on the skin to make it look just like the picture then they have some talent.

I was so nervous before my first session. I knew of the pain but had never sat for over 45 minutes.

I couldn't believe I was about to get this done!

No turning back now!

I lasted for 3 1/2 hours. A grueling 3 1/2 hours.

My attempts at capturing photos.

You can see above the empty feathers. He sure took care of that in the second session!

This is a picture of what I saw. I was shocked for a split second before realizing he was inking with red.

My arm was so swollen and hot by the time he was finished.

I couldn't wait for it to heal already! Haha!

Drum roll please.......

I went to visit my grandpa after the first session and I will never forget the look of disapointment in his eyes when he saw it. As soon as he touched my ink the look faded into disbelief. All he could do was touch my arm and rub the tattoo. Touch some more. Squeeze my arm. Then rub again. I didn't care what he said, his touch said everything I needed to know.

It's been a while...

Hey everyone! I wanted to post a quick update. Things have been fun and busy for me and my little family.  Lots of fun for the holidays! Also lots of fun out with friends.

At the beginning of the month my fiance and I went out with a good friend of mine and her boyfriend to help celebrate her 28th birthday!

After that it was time to start getting prepared for Christmas.  You can always get kids to listen better this time of year for some reason. ;) We finally went to get our Christmas tree at a local tree farm. The kids had so much fun looking for our perfect tree.

After looking, and looking, and looking we finally found a tree to take home.

I'm finally getting into the Christmas spirit and this week I've taken cookies to work twice already!

In addition to a wonderful end to 2011, it looks like we will be buying a house in the Spring! I can tell this is going to be an adventure, but I am ready for a place that belongs to us!

This year the kids want electronics and so do I! Stay tuned for future blog posts with quality pictures!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas holiday and a wonder New Year!

FOTD: An experimental success?

Hello everyone! One of my cousins came into town this weekend to celebrate her 27th birthday. It seemed to be a girl's plus 2 guys night out. There ended up being about 8 girls. I'm sure the guys didn't mind. We went out for dinner and then downtown to hit up 5 different clubs. It was a very fun and interesting night. I love my family!

I recently watched Selena Gomez's video for Love You Like a Love Song. The video looked like a lot of fun. I especially liked her second look and wanted to attempt to recreate my own version. Here is what I came up with and wore out for the night.

Phone pictures with my front camera.

Phone picture with the better camera...more true to color.

I must say I was a little nervous putting this on, but I was very pleased with the way it turned out.

And here are pictures of the best Prickly Pear Margaritas!

I had mine on the rocks and my fiance had his frozen.

Incredibly yummy!
